Holy Orders is the sacrament that constitutes and seals the individual (whether priest, deacon, or bishop), by the grace of the Holy Spirit, to serve the People of God, and to fulfill the pastoral ministry of Jesus Christ. The ordained minister is sent to bless, to preach the Gospel of Christ, and to administer the other Sacraments under the direction of the Bishop, and so fulfill the charism of unselfish service to others in union with Christ. -CCC, no.1592-7
